Treatment Trainers:
Laura Murray, Ph.D., Treatment Trainer for Drs. Cohen and Mannarino's Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) study, has conducted numerous trainings on TF-CBT, AF-CBT and TF-CBT-CTG, both nationally and internationally. Dr. Murray has extensive experience in training therapists of diverse cultural backgrounds to implement, adopt, and adapt Drs. Cohen and Mannarino's models for children and families in community settings. She has and continues to provide extensive international training and direct clinical care in Africa, Romania, and for the World Health Organization/World Psychiatric Association.

Esther Deblinger, Ph.D. is a widely respected researcher at the New Jersey CARES Institute, University of Medicine and Dentistry-New Jersey, who, with Drs. Cohen and Mannarino, developed, standardized and evaluated the TF-CBT model over the past 20 years. Together they conducted the largest randomized controlled trial ever published with traumatized children, which was the first to demonstrate the efficacy of any treatment model for multiple traumatized children. Dr. Deblinger has published extensively on this subject and has delivered numerous local and regional presentations on TF-CBT.

Amy Hoch, Psy.D. is a psychologist licensed in New Jersey and Pennsylvania who is currently Program Development Specialist at the University of Medicine and Dentistry-New Jersey's CARES Institute where she specializes in working with children and famlies who have experienced sexual abuse and other traumas. She also provides community education and professional workshops on such topics as identification and treatment of sexual abuse, dissociation, postraumatic stress disorder, dating violence, and sexual assault.

Current and Upcoming Events:


April 2-3, 2009: Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Traumatized Children and Their Famliies, Pittsburgh, PA
This two-day conference, sponsored by the Department of Psychiatry of Allegheny General Hospital, will be conducted by Anthony P. Mannarino, Ph.D. and Judith Cohen, M.D. The training will provide an intensive review of all of the TF-CBT components, with a strong clinical emphasis. Participants will better understand the need to include parents/caretakers in the treatment of traumatizied children, will acquire knowledge regarding how to implement the skills-building components of TF-CBT, and will recognize the importance of the trauma narrative and processing of the trauma in treating traumatized children. The intended audience is psychiatrists, psychologists, clinical social workers, and mental health counselors.

This training has been approved for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit and APA credit.

June 17-20, 2009: 17th Annual Colloquium of the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children, Atlanta, GA
This APSAC colloquium will address aspects of child maltreatment such as prevention, assessment, intervention and treatment.

September 14-15, 2009: Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Traumatized Children & Their Families, Pittsburgh, PA
Anthony P. Mannarino, Ph.D., and Judith Cohen, M.D. will present this two-day training conference on trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy. This training will provide an intensive review of all of the TF-CBT treatment components, with a specific focus on clinical implementation strategies.

This is approved for a maximum of 12 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits and sponsors continuing education for psychologists.

November 4-7, 2009: Annual meeting of the International Society on Traumatic Stress Studies, Atlanta, GA
This annual meeting will focus on traumatic stress studies and where this field is headed. It will take place at the Westin Peachtree Plaza in Atlanta, GA.
